Quorn Village Email Addresses

village email addresses Interested in an exclusive Quorn village email address? Tired of trying to remember long AOL, BT, Tiscali or Virgin Media addresses? Then read on ...

  • musicteacher @ quornvillage.com
  • BIKER29 @ chaveney.com
  • jonesfamily @ chaveney.com

Since the Quorn Village Website was started in May 1998, we have promoted the idea of village email addresses. This is a unique idea that helps us to fund this website.

Overview
Email addresses are often long and difficult to remember. By buying a Quorn Village Email Address, you will join a growing group of Quorn villagers who have a short, snappy and prestigious personalised email address that reflects the name of the village or area in which they live.

What is available?
Any addresses at the following domains can be used:

  • quornvillage.com
  • chaveney.com

You just need to choose your prefix. This can be pretty much what you like, as long as it's not already taken by someone else in Quorn. Examples:

  • jimbo @ quornvillage.com
  • clare @ quornvillage.com
  • rachel @ quornvillage.com
  • club26 @ chaveney.com
  • roy @ chaveney.com

The choice is up to you. You must already have an existing "default" email address (such as with AOL, Freeserve, Virgin, BTclick etc). All email sent to your new Quorn address is automatically rerouted to your existing default address.

Your village address will be easy for people to remember and your default address will still work in addition to the village address, so you will never lose any email if people still send to the default one.

You can also make the system work more effectively for you by changing your outgoing mail ID to match your new village email address (so a friend who receives an email from you will see that it comes from for example "jim@chaveney.com" rather than "jim27@jones.freeserve.co.uk"). Not all ISPs allow this, but most do.

Annual Cost
Email addresses cost just £8 per year including VAT for individuals and businesses in Quorn. We charge from the end of May one year to the following May, so initially you may pay an odd amount. Costs include VAT. This charge helps to support the costs of running of this website.

Changing your ISP (Internet Service Provider)
A service provider is a company that gives you access to the Internet and includes companies such as BT, AOL, Tesco, Virgin Media, etc. It's quite common for people to hop from one to another to take advantage of better pricing and facilities. The trouble is that when you change provider, your email address will change too.

The beauty of having a village email address is that you can keep the same email address even if you change your provider. When you want to change, you simply let us know your "default" address with your new provider, and we'll change your entry on the village server. You don't need to tell friends of the change or reprint any stationery since your village email address remains completely stable and active.

Applying for an Email Address
Just contact us to see if your name is available and we'll let you know costs and how to pay.
